  Further Information
  Who is the VSDAR?
  For the Press

For extreme nearsightedness, a combination of a lens implant (to correct up to - 20 dpt) and laser eye surgery (to correct another -3 to -5 dpt with or without astigmatism) can be used. The procedure, called Bioptics, requires two different operations.

Indication
— Extreme nearsightedness upt to -25 dpt.
— over- or undercorrection or astigmatism after lens implantation

Properties

— see LASIK and lens implant

First procedure
Preparation of the flap
On the day of the lens implant, the LASIK flap will be cut first.
The lens implantation follows.
Second procedure (ca. 3 month later)
The flap, prepared during the first procedure, is lifted.

The cold excimer-laser ablates the cornea by burning off small amounts of tissue.

The flap is placed back and covers the ablation area. There is no need to apply stitches.
